The Theme Ingredient strikes back!

I watched Iron Chef America tonight. Iron Chef is really big on fresh seafood, and that often means "still alive." Tonight one of the langoustines bit Iron Chef Bobby Flay as he was tossing it into the pot.

Terrifying, sad, ... but funny as well

(OK, I have a twisted mind)
THE CRUDDIEST MOMENT OF THE CRAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE ON EARTH happened as I found myself watching five televisions simultaneously, each containing a different political pundit opining on the same subject. When I looked down toward my computer screen to see what the bloggers were saying about it, I noticed that a button on my shirt had come undone.

Need a break

[info]colgaffneyis dance guild is meeting tonight, but we are not going to be there. [info]mia_mcdavid has a Garden Club meeting in Roseville. Without her, I think I will just stay home. In post 35-W Minneapolis the Westward trip from Roseville is still rather grim at 6:30 PM. Also, there may be heavy rain when I would return after 9 PM. I made that trip through storms three times in the last month. That is enough for now.

The fact is I really need some time at home. Sunday was busy and I have been out the last two evenings. I have not fully unpacked from the last two weekends of camping with [info]colgaffneyis. I am looking forward to a relaxing evening, working on a couple simple projects while watching the Mythbusters blow up things on television.

Unclear on the Concept

From Kim Lawton of Religion & Ethics NewsWeekly, interviewed at GetReligion:
In reporting on the Vatican beatification ceremony for Mother Teresa, a local news anchor said that she was being "beautified." It made me want to check the tape for telltale Botox marks.

Scotty's ashes

They are to be launched into space, but what then? Celestis, the company that arranges for handling the cremation ashes, suggests that they are going into orbit. However, the firm that is providing the rocket clearly states that their vehicles are only capable of suborbital flights. More at Bad Astronomy.

Orbital or suborbital? James Doohan and Gordon Cooper certainly understood the difference, and I think it would matter to them.
